5 Great Things to Do in New England

Every part of the country has wonderful things to do and see. Many of the things are similar from region to region – such as mountains, or seashores, or lakes. New England certainly has its’ share of such attractions. While there certainly are things that make each of these in each part of the country worth visiting, sometimes you want to see something that you cannot see someplace else – something really unique. Here are 5 things unique to New England for you to visit:

  1. Acadia National Park, Maine – Acadia National Park in Maine was the first National Park east of the Mississippi. It is also the only National Park in the Northeastern United States. Renown for its rugged beauty, Acadia is well worth a visit.
  2. Fenway Park, Boston, MA – Fans of baseball often like to visit the ballparks in the various cities that they may travel to. Yes, many cities have ballparks, but Boston has something no other city has – the oldest major league ballpark in the United States. When the first game was played at Fenway park in 1912, the sinking of the Titanic was still front-page news.
  3. Oldest Carousels in the Country, MA & RI – The two oldest operating carousels in the United States were both built by the Charles W. Dare Company of New York in 1876. The Flying Horse Carousel came to make it’s home in Watch Hill, RI in 1879. The Flying Horses Carousel settled in Oak Bluffs on the Island of Martha’s Vineyard in 1884.
  4. The Shot Heard Round the World, MA – Minuteman National Historic Park which preserves historical sites from the first battles of the American Revolution including Concord’s North Bridge, and “Battle Road Trail” which is a 5 mile path between Lexington and Concord that approximates the route of fighting between British troops and Colonial militia. This is where the American Revolutionary War began.
  5. America’s Stonehenge? Salem, NH – Salem, NH is home to what is believed to be the oldest man-made structure in the United States. It is a rock maze reminiscent of Stonehenge in England.

2010 The World Tourism Day

The World Tourism Day is on September 27 each year. This is the festival of the tourism workers and tourists which by the World Tourism Organization (WTO) to determine. The aim of create the festival is to draw people to the importance of tourism and promoting cooperation in tourism. The 2010 World Tourism Day, the main venue for the global celebration for the first time to China, will be held in Guangdong.2010 the main venue of World Tourism Day Global Celebration Guangdong International Tourism Culture Festival will be held on September 27 in Guangzhou. At 10 o’clock on the June 3, 2010, this culture day press conference will be held at the Guangdong Provincial Tourism Bureau.

The World Tourism Day was established by the World Tourism Organization, the festival of tourism workers and tourists. The World Tourism Organization officially designated September 27 as World Tourism Day since the september in 1979, and since 1980 every year to establish a global scale as the main venue of the State, other Member States carried out as a sub-venue series of celebration activities. China is the main venue of the country this year, the theme is the tourism and biodiversity, there will be more than 160 countries as a sub-Venue also held celebrations.
