Future Exhibits

Long term goals are to add a reptile/snake exhibit and insect museum to “complete” the nature center. The main goal of the reptile exhibit would be to educate the people on the ecological importance of these creatures and especially how to tell the difference between venomous and non-venomous species. As most snakes are feared and believed to have fatal bites they are persecuted by the rural population who do not understand that less than 10% of the species in Honduras actually contain venom fatal to humans.

Baudinīs Tree Frog; Green Parrot Snake

The insect museum would display all orders of preserved insects from all over Honduras. It would contain numerous interpretive displays showing and describing the many purposes of insects, adaptations, etc. There would also be a working laboratory where the insects would be prepared for display and some permanently stored.

Marine Toad and friend; Mexican Parrot Snake

Physalaemus pustulosus; Vine Snake
