Scientific Warehouse
Enchanted Wings is a scientific warehouse where specimens of plants, orchids and butterflies are brought in from all over Honduras. We continue to work with people in their respective fields like Paul House and his upcoming field guide to the orchids of Honduras. It will feature a number of photographs of orchids taken by Robert, some of which are the first and only photos of some species for the country as well as species new for science.
Robert and Irma are also working on a bilingual field guide to the butterflies of Honduras that should be ready for publication in the next five years. They continue to find previously unrecorded species for Honduras, especially in the remote Mosquitia region.
Through natural history tours and additional field work Robert and Irma continue to make noteworthy bird records from around the country and have led them to record 15 new birds for Honduras as well as many distributional and breeding records. Some distributional data gets published in the Central American section of Birds of North America and it is hoped that much of the information already generated will go to use in some future field guide. Much of the information is currently available on Robert’s new website, “Birds of Honduras” found at: www.birdsofhonduras.com.
